Hero MotoCorp, the world's largest two-wheeler manufacturer, showcased their new offering, the Dawn125, at the outgoing Milan Motorcycle Show (2016 EICMA). Pawan Munjal, chairman, managing director & chief executive officer, Hero MotoCorp, himself unveiled the bike at the event. The Hero Dawn 125 has been specifically developed for the Africa region. The motorcycle will mainly be targeting the commercial segment, and Hero also claims that the new offering will focus on utility needs such as strength, durability and fuel efficiency.
Speaking of the design, the Dawn 125 shares its cues, such as the fuel tank, body panels and alloy wheels, with the Super Splendor sold in our country. The bike gets a bigger circular headlamp with a chrome bezel and a metallic front fender, and, not only that, it also gets an elongated seat with a wide carrier at the back and extended footrests. The telescopic forks seems to have longer travel now for better ride quality.
Mechanically, the Dawn 125 has the 124.7cc air-cooled, 4-stroke OHC, single-cylinder motor that is also found on the Super Splendor. The motor pumps out 9.13PS of max power and 10.35Nm of peak torque. The Hero MotoCorp’s i3S system does not feature on the Dawn 125 -- the company has not kept this feature maybe to cut the cost.
The new Dawn 125 is already available in the African market at major dealerships in countries like Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Mozambique, among others.
